Getting Married at St Michael's Catholic Church

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. The St Michael's Catholic commnuity welcomes you with great joy as you celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage. To assist you in your preparations we have compiled the following information.

Mariage Preparation Options

 

Entering into marriage is one of the biggest decisions anybody makes in his or her lifetime. The Church strongly recommends that couples undertake some kind of formal preparation for marriage to help them understand the nature of marriage and the many human complexities of married life.

 

There are several options for marriage preparation available in the Archdiocese of Brisbane:

  • Pre-Marriage Education Group Courses and FOCCUS Program (individual Pre Marriage Education) offered through Centacare Brisbane

  • FOCCUS Program (individual Pre-Marriage Education) offered through Life and Human Relations 78-80 Musgrave Road, Red Hill (in the grounds of St Brigid’s Red Hill)

  • FOCCUS Program (individual Pre-Marriage Education) offered through Catherine Dodemont - Senior Clinical Counsellor, Mobile: 0413 623 162 or email: cdc.dodemont@gmail.com

 

A couple can discuss these options with the priest who is officiating at their wedding.

It is advisable to plan to do the marriage preparation six months before the wedding.

Wedding Musicians and Singers

 

Liturgical and Sacred music are integral parts of your ceremony. The Parish has a number of dedicated and committed musicians and singers we can put you in contact with. They are fully versed in the music that is most suitable for a wedding. They will ensure a joyful celebration.

 

Of course a lot of modern love songs are appropriate for weddings, but they belong at the reception, not in the religious ceremony. CDs are not allowed.
