Hospitality & Community

Parish life extends beyond the celebration of Mass. Hospitality and Community ministries help create a welcoming, caring, and connected parish, where people feel known, supported, and part of something larger.

These ministries focus on building relationships and serving others in practical ways:

  • Welcoming Ministry

  • Morning Tea

  • Care and Concern

  • St Vincent de Paul

  • Men’s Shed

  • Mother Teresa Shrine (at Marian Valley)

Together, they help foster a strong sense of community and ensure that no one feels alone within the parish.

Welcoming Ministry

The Welcoming Ministry helps create a friendly and inviting atmosphere for all who attend St Michael’s. Whether greeting parishioners before Mass or assisting new visitors, this ministry plays an important role in helping people feel at home from the moment they arrive.

Morning Tea

A monthly Morning Tea provides an opportunity for parishioners to gather socially after Mass, share conversation, and build relationships. This simple but important ministry helps strengthen the sense of community within the parish.

Care and Concern

The Care and Concern ministry supports parishioners who may be experiencing illness, hardship, or isolation. Through visits, communication, and practical assistance, this group helps ensure that members of the parish are cared for and remembered.

St Vincent de Paul

The St Vincent de Paul Society serves those in need within the wider community, offering practical assistance, compassion, and support. Parishioners involved in this ministry live out the call to serve others, particularly those experiencing hardship in our local area.

Men’s Shed

The Men’s Shed provides a space for men of the parish and wider community to come together, share skills, and build friendships. It promotes connection, wellbeing, and a sense of purpose through practical projects and social interaction.

Mother Teresa Shrine

Located at Marian Valley in Canungra, the Mother Teresa Shrine is a place of prayer and reflection, honouring the life and example of St Teresa of Calcutta. St Michael's parishioners were involved in the development and building of the project from its outset, and continue to be involved today. Every year we hold an annual pilgrimage around the time of Mother Teresa's feast day. The Shrine at Marian Valley provides a quiet space for devotion and invites parishioners to reflect on her witness of service, humility, and love.
