Tree Planting
The Fig Tree
The fig tree is the third tree to be mentioned by name in the Hebrew Bible. The first is the “Tree of Life” and the second is the “Tree of the knowledge” of good and evil. Adam and Eve used the leaves of the fig tree to sew garments for themselves after the Fall, when they realized that they were naked (Genesis 3:7). As individuals and community, we are called by Jesus to produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit which is within us.
The Olive Tree
The “olive” was one of the most valuable trees to the ancient Hebrews. It is first mentioned in Scripture when the dove returned to Noah's ark carrying an olive branch in its beak (Genesis 8:11) The olive branch is usually a symbol of peace, harmony and hope. The dove and olive branch are used as a symbol of “peace”.
The Strawberry Plant
The strawberry was a symbol for Venus, the Goddess of Love, because of its heart shapes and red colour. To symbolize perfection and righteousness, medieval stone masons carved strawberry designs on altars and around the tops of pillars in churches and cathedrals. Often it is a symbol of abundance, associated with goddesses of fertility, plenty, and the harvest.
The Papaya (Paw Paw)
Papaya (paw paw) is a symbol of happiness and content in life. When you see yourself eating a ripe and juicy papaya in your dreams, it means that you enjoy good health and living a prosperous life without any worries.
