Youth Evangelisation
The Year of Youth is now in full swing. This year places a special focus on young people, faith and vocational discernment, in line with the Synod of Bishops called by Pope Francis, to be held in October 2018. It will particularly celebrate young people aged 12-30.

You’ll find some Year of Youth prayer cards at the door of the Church. These were created to guide all members of the Church in Australia to pray and discern their response to the movement of the Spirit in the Year of Youth.

Read the words of Pope Francis below which have inspired the theme for the Year of Youth "OPEN NEW HORIZONS FOR SPREADING JOY: Young People, Faith & Vocational Discernment". Consider how you/your community are called to Open New Horizons for Spreading Joy.

THE YEAR OF YOUTH CALLS ALL COMMUNITIES OF FAITH IN AUSTRALIA TO:
  1. Prayerfully discern the Australian Catholic Bishop’s vision for ministry with young people, Anointed and Sent.
  2. Authentic and personal engagement by Church leaders in the challenges and successes in young people’s lives.
  3. Acknowledge the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of young people, and young people acting upon the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church.
  4. Uphold the dignity of young people, ensuring a safe environment from physical, emotional and spiritual harm.

REMINDER: Project Compassion
Please bring your project compassion envelop to mass next week. For more information visit www.caritas.org.au or call 1800 024 413. Your donation to project compassion 2018 will empower vulnerable young people like Janaki in Nepal, to build a just future for themselves, their families and their communities. A Just Future has started with your support.
